DRS Technologies $91 Million in Contracts for Tactical Quiet Generators

DRS Technologies, Inc. has received multiple contract awards worth approximately $91 million from the U.S. Army's Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey to manufacture more than 5,000 Tactical Quiet Generators (TQG) in various sizes.

Ultralife Corp. - Successful development and delivery of MRC-201 fuel-cell charger

Ultralife Corporation, in association with Lynntech, Inc. and the Army's Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC), today announced the successful completion of a 12-month (Milestone 1) development effort and a scheduled (November) delivery of its prototype MRC-201 fuel-cell charger to the CERDEC facility at the Aberdeen Proving Ground located near Aberdeen, Maryland for further testing and evaluation.

ABSL Selected to Supply Infrared Calibration System for SLSTR

ABSL Space Products is proud to announce the award of a contract for the design, development, and manufacture of the infrared calibration system and high-precision temperature acquisition electronics for the Sea and Land Surface Temperature Radiometer (SLSTR). This instrument will be launched in 2012 on the Sentinel-3 spacecraft as part of the joint ESA and EC GMES programme. The contract was awarded to ABSL Space Products by Jena-Optronik GmbH following a competitive tender process.

ABSL Selected to Supply Lithium-ion Battery for GMES Sentinel 1

ABSL Space Products has been selected by Thales Alenia Space Italy to provide the Lithium-ion battery for the Sentinel-1 spacecraft, scheduled for launch in 2010. This is the first of five planned Sentinel missions that form part of the GMES program - Global Monitoring for Environment and Security - a set of Earth observation missions co-funded by ESA and the European Commission. GMES represents the European answer to the ever-increasing requirements of environmental control, and thus provides an important contribution to environmental policies at a global level.

Li-ion Batteries for U.S.Army Combat System Vechicles

Saft, manufacturer of high-end batteries for defense applications, was recently awarded a multi-year follow-on contract by BAE Systems’ for Future Combat Systems (FCS), the Army’s premier modernization initiative led by the Lead Systems Integrator eam of Boeing [NYSE: BA] and partner Science Applications International Corporation. Saft will provide lithium-ion (Li-ion) hybrid electric vehicle batteries for Manned Ground Vehicles (MGV), a family of hybrid electric combat vehicles for the FCS program.

Fuel Cells for Space Shuttle surpass expectations

UTC Power fuel cells, which generate all of the Space Shuttle's electrical power, surpassed 100,000 hours of flight operation during the recently completed STS-123 mission by the Orbiter Endeavour. UTC Power is a United Technologies Corp. company and produces and maintains the Space Shuttle fuel cells under contract to United Space Alliance, NASA's prime Shuttle contractor.

Spanish Navy supplied with fuel cell power module

UTC Power, has announced that it has signed a contract for the development phase of a program with Spanish shipbuilder Navantia, S.A., to supply a 300kW proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell power module for use in the Spanish Navy’s S-80 submarine.
