Lightweight Portable Amp Solution for Comms on the move

SAIC (published 04/05/2008)

AMTI, an operation of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), introduces the LPAS-320 Lightweight Portable Amplification System.

Serving as a total solution for communications on the move, the system provides full-rated power across the 30 to 512 MHz frequency range and does so without any band splits. The system includes the 20-watt Alpha-320 amp that requires only a single battery for operation. The Alpha-320 is both HAVEQUICK and SINGARS compatible and will not inadvertently jam friendly networks. This is made possible utilizing AMTI technology that provides appropriate output filtering to minimize harmful emissions during ECCM operation.

The Alpha 320 weighs only 22 ounces. The amp and the entire kit weighs less than 13 pounds making the LPAS-320 ideal for fast-moving covert and special operations as well as for conventional military units. LPAS is available in both backpack and hard case versions, each sealed and weather-resistant.

In addition to the A-320 amp, the system includes an integrated AC/DC rechargeable battery box, charging pocket for the MBITR radio, associated cabling, and the AMTI 20-watt antenna. Optional items include a SATCOM antenna, 30 to 108 MHz antenna, amplified speaker box, and standard military handset. Because the LPAS-320 requires no special adapters to charge the MBITR radio, users can interchange adapters at will. Additionally, the acceptance of lithium-ion, lithium, nickel-metal hydride, or sealed lead acid batteries, as well as a wide range of AC and DC inputs, proves that the LPAS-320 is ideal for many communications applications.

AMTI was acquired by SAIC in December, 2006. Founded in 1991, AMTI is headquartered in Virginia Beach, Virginia. AMTI provides products and services to government and private-sector clients in support of homeland defense and the Global War on Terror (GWOT).

SAIC is a leading provider of scientific, engineering, systems integration and technical services, and solutions to all branches of the U.S. military, agencies of the Department of Defense, intelligence community, Department of Homeland Security, and other U.S. government civil agencies, as well customers in selected commercial markets. With more than 44,000 employees in over 150 cities worldwide, SAIC engineers and scientists solve complex technical challenges requiring innovative solutions for customer mission-critical functions.
