After receiving TSO-C113 and ETSO-C113 authorization for its 10-inch Primary Flight Display, Belgium-based Avionics provider Barco has announced the same certification for its 15-inch model.
The TSO and ETSO certifications recognize that the units have successfully met the airworthiness standards issued by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as well as the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Barco’s large-screen flight displays are marketed by Honeywell as KDU-1080 and KDU-1500 respectively and are integrated into the Honeywell Primus Apex integrated flight deck.“We are extremely pleased with this new milestone in the KDU-1500 development process. As was the case with the KDU-1080, we managed to obtain TSO and ETSO certifications for the KDU-1500 under a very tight schedule. These certifications by the FAA and EASA reward our commitment to excellence and unremitting customer focus,” states Yves Vanhauwaert, General Manager of the Barco Avionics division. The KDU-1080 and KDU-1500 displays are being integrated into a variety of business jet aircraft, amongst which the Grob spn and Pilatus PC-12. As part of the Honeywell Primus Apex suite, they provide pilots with sunlight-readable images and a wide viewing angle to enable optimum cross-cockpit visibility. With their large, high-resolution screen, the displays bring larger views and improved situational awareness to the cockpit. |
