General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded a contract to support the U.S. Air Force Simulations, Training and Experimentation Program. The contract has a potential value of $146 million over five years if all options are exercised.
General Dynamics will provide staffing support to Air Force agencies to conduct operational strategy concept development, operational/regional politico-military analysis and capabilities assessments, as well as war and mobilization planning. The company will support planning and conduct of the Air Force Title 10 mid-term wargame, 'Unified Engagement.' General Dynamics has provided similar services to the Air Force since October 2001. The work will be performed primarily in Arlington and Hampton Roads, Va.'Wargames allow the Department of Defense to mitigate possible operational or strategic surprise through comprehensive research, analysis and planning,' said Ken Hess, vice president and general manager of Air Force Systems for General Dynamics Information Technology. 'General Dynamics will continue to provide the streamlined, responsive support and guidance that enables the Air Force to successfully achieve its critical mission.' In May 2007, the General Dynamics-Air Force team received the 2007 Department of Defense Modeling and Simulation Common and Cross-Cutting Award at the Defense Modeling and Simulation Conference. |
