Curtiss-Wright Corporation has been selected by The Boeing Co. to provide its Advanced Smoke Detection System for the cargo compartments on the 747-8 Passenger and Freighter airplanes.
The system consists of Curtiss-Wright's newest and most advanced smoke detectors together with an electronic controller that monitors the detectors and alerts the aircraft crew in the unlikely event of fire in the aircraft cargo compartments. The system, one of the most sophisticated in the industry, was designed and developed by Curtiss-Wright's Motion Control segment, a leading supplier of aircraft fire detection systems.
