Obstruction lighting has been a significant part of atg airports’ product portfolio for many years, with atg consistently utilising the most up to date technologies of the time, ranging from neon discharge tubes through to the latest LED technology.

Today’s obstruction lighting is available with various different types of illumination, including LED, fluorescent and neon tungsten halogen or xenon flash for high intensity application. Low intensity and medium intensity lights are common place at most airports, all of which can be found on elongated structures, obstacles in the outer area of the approach or high ground adjacent to the aerodrome circuit as well as all obstacles over 45m.

The use of LED technology reduces the maintenance cycle costs, the time between replacement of an LED is forecast to be tens of thousands of hours whereas the TH lamp would only last one thousand hours, a significant advantage for lights that can often be found in remote locations on airports as well as atop tall buildings and radio masts. The ZA773L is an upgrade of existing low intensity obstacle and general purpose marine light. The light has a superior ingress protection rating of IP68 which ensures that the advanced LED light and supporting electronics are sealed from the often harsh marine environment. The eight, high brightness red LED’s, with accurately focusing secondary optics to guarantee that the light beam is directed efficiently towards the specifications and ensures that the performance exceeds the minimum specification. The superior electronics, which is also protected, ensures that the correct current will be delivered to the LED array irrespective of any variations in the input power supply. The power supply is able to accommodate power inputs from 24 V DC up to 240v AC.
