CeMAT ASIA – Asia’s leading intralogistics exhibition

CeMAT (published 01/07/2008)

By the time CeMAT ASIA opens its gates on 27 October, two months will have passed since the end of the year’s biggest sporting event, the Summer Olympics in Beijing. Organizing an event of this magnitude is a logistics tour de force. Without the innovations as well as the future-proof logistics systems of intralogistics providers, events like these could never be staged in the first place.

From 27 to 30 October 2008, some 380 exhibitors will occupy net display space of around 10,000 square meters to present their latest products from the intralogistics sector. The display categories at CeMAT ASIA 2008, Asia’s leading intralogistics exhibition, comprise industrial trucks, cranes and lifting platforms, conveyor systems, warehousing systems, loading equipment and software as well as accessories from the entire field of materials handling.

This year sees the debut of two special displays: The “Automated Guided Vehicles Pavilion” consists of a presentation of driverless transport systems. Apart from reliability, a key criterion for deploying these AGV systems involves their flexibility, i.e. how easily can a transport system be adapted to fit changed external conditions. Hannover-based Deutsche Messe is organizing this pavilion jointly with Prof. Lothar Schulze from the Leibniz University in Hannover, who is also organizing a supporting forum.

The second new display involves the “Logistics System Integration Area”, a dedicated platform for system providers, project planners and IT enterprises. The systems integration of information and material flows is a precondition for achieving high degrees of efficiency and quality in the logistics chain. Exhibitors will be showcasing their expertise in this area within the framework of a special display and an associated forum

After China and Taiwan the biggest exhibitor contingents will come from Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States. These four nations are the world’s leading intralogistics providers, with the United States in first place and Germany coming in second.

Exhibitors at CeMAT ASIA include major forklift manufacturers like Toyota, Linde, Jungheinrich, Komatsu, Heli and Baoli, forklift accessory suppliers such as Cascade and Kaup, conveyor system manufacturers like Beumer and Knapp, crane suppliers like ABUS, Demag and Kito and warehouse technology providers like Dexion, Hänel, Kardex, OTL and SSI Schäfer. The Beumer company from Beckum, Germany, is a first-time exhibitor at CeMAT ASIA. “Our focus there will be on sorting and distribution technology, where we want to demonstrate our expertise in systems for baggage sorting at airports as well as react to the growing demand for mail-order, package delivery and courier services on the Asian market,” explains Dr. Christoph Beumer, Managing Director at Beumer Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG. This company has been represented in China with its own subsidiary for two years, benefiting from the rapid growth in Asian markets, especially in the field of cement industry conveyor systems.

CeMAT ASIA is accompanied by a high-class supporting program organized by Deutsche Messe in cooperation with its Chinese partner associations. The spotlight at these events will be on special vertical market solutions for the tobacco and pharmaceuticals industry as well as innovative IT solutions in the logistics sector.

Two tradeshows at a single venue

Apart from hosting CeMAT Asia, the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) will also be the venue for the PTC ASIA exhibition – the world’s second biggest trade fair for power transmission and fluid control as well as compressors, compressed air and vacuum technology, topped only by MDA Hannover.
