Tiger System Works with Satellite System

Sectra’s Tiger system for secure voice communications has been extended with support for the Iridium satellite system. Iridium is the largest commercial satellite system and is used by government and defense organizations worldwide.

Tiger XS products secure communications for decision-makers, officials and military personnel in Europe. Tiger XS can be used over ordinary telephone lines, GSM, ISDN and IP networks as well as satellite systems.

”There is a great need for communications via satellite for government and defense organizations active in areas with an inadequate telecom infrastructure outside Europe’s borders. This applies primarily to embassies and peace-keeping missions,” says Jan-Olof Brüer, President and CEO of Sectra. ”Now we can offer these organizations secure voice communications with the commercial satellite system that has the best coverage.”

Tiger products are used by government authorities and defense department customers in 14 of the 27 EU member states. Tiger XS is the only EU security-approved crypto product that provides eavesdrop protection for fixed and mobile telecommunications up to and including the high security level Secret UE. Tiger XS also provides the possibility of encrypted telefax and data transfers.
