Civil, commercial & research unmanned aircraft with a mass of less than 150 kg will not be certified by EASA. In most European countries, the certification of such aircraft, or the authorization to operate them in national airspace, is the responsibility of the national civil aviation authority (CAA). However, the CAA in only a few countries have a clear policy or are addressing this situation. As a result, the market for this type of UAS has difficulty in developing. However, various studies indicate that this UAS segment offers substantial potential. Currently, there is no coordinated European effort to address rules & regulations for this category of UAS. |
