Terrorists show their true colors after release from Guantanamo

Said Ali al-Shihri, a detainee released from Guantanamo to Saudi Arabia in 2007, is now the deputy leader of Al Qaeda’s Yemeni terror network. He is suspected of masterminding the deadly bombing of the US Embassy in Yemen’s capital Sana last September. His current role was confirmed to the New York Times by a US counter-intelligence official and a Yemeni journalist.

In fact, the Pentagon has hinted that dozens of freed Guantanamo Bay prisoners have “returned to the fight” as unrepentant Jihadists. Many like prisoner no.372 al-Shihri have undergone a so-called “rehabilitation program” after release which has not made the slightest bit of difference to their beliefs. In a video on a militant website, al-Shihri made clear that his six years behind bars following capture in Pakistan had only hardened his resolve to pursue holy war, kill all infidels, etc, etc.

So this raises the serious question of whether ex-President George Bush’s military-style detention center, despite all the criticisms, might not have been such a bad idea after all, as a method of protecting us all after 9/11. Accordingly, the vacuous and politically correct Western press should wise up and understand that adopting a liberal, kidglove approach towards obsessed killers and terrorist fanatics is just never going to work.
